The Voice of Our Mighty Phillies

Headline: Phils say yes to Harry Kalas Statue

Source: Check it out!

The famous voice of the Phillies franchise is finally being honored in a different way. Harry Kalas will be having an all-bronze statue built for him at Citizens Bank Ballpark in Philadelphia. This statue of course, is to honor and remember HK's time and effort put into Phillies broadcasting for 50 some years.

In May 09' a month after his death, an $80,000 grant was given to the organization to pay for his statue to be put up. The statue has been finished since January, but the date that it will make it's debue is still unknown. For it's location- rumors say, that it could be in Ashburn Alley, in front of the stadium, or somewhere else in or around the stadium.

Being a Phillies fan for my whole life, I really appreciate that he is being honored so greatly. I'll always remember his famous 2008 World Series call, "The 0-2 pitch- swing and a miss, struck him out! The Philadelphia Phillies are 2008 World Champions of baseball!" What a good day to be a Philadelphian... Over and out, Montague

I think it is so sweet and completely deserved that were dong this for a true Philadelphia legend. I hope that I can go to the opening, wherever it may be, because I know that if I weren't there I wouldn't be honoring my Philadelphia roots! Harry Kalas was the voice behind the Phillies for fifty years and that type of dedication deserves nothing less than this statues in his honor.

A statue is a great way to show the memory of Harry Kalas. He was dedicated to broadcasting for years and he'll always be missed throughout Philadelphia and Citizens Bank Park. I'm very excited for them to finally reveal the statue and hope to see it soon!
