At ohio state university, an 8-foot tall plant known as the "corpse flower" is blooming. Being almost spring, it is ready to unravel it's umbrella sized petals. the greenhouse coordinator Joan Leanord has been growing five since 2001 and this one will be the first to bloom. It is called the "corpse flower" because it literally smells like a corpse. a rotting corpse. and they will have visiting hours for it. yum. and the thing dies after two days so all that work and growing for just a nasty smelling plant thats huge and dies after two days?

I kind of wanna smell it now because unlike sooo many others I have never smelled a dead corpse. Is it edible?
I would never EVER visit this flower! why would anyone? it smells like a corpse! Thats just weird. hahaha. This is just weird, and it's an ugly plant too!
so it just sits there and smells? haha it's not attractive at all! i wonder what would happen if you crushed it...that would probably kill you.
i like to read about flowers because i like flowers. i like to blog because i like journalism. i am so bored and cant wait to graduate
This is so interesting how a flower is still growing since 2001;however, why would they want a flower that smells like corpse? In my opinion, I wouldn't want to enter the room.
What is the purpose of this flower? Personally, I would never visit a flower that smells like a corpse. I would probably be scarred for life.
I think this is actually pretty cool. As gross as it sounds, I think I would smell it. I mean, I have to put up with "Smelly-Duke-Nanan" all day. How bad can this be? Zing!
I think it would be cool to grow a flower for ten years, but at least make it a pretty flower. I don't think I would ever visit that, because who wants to smell a rotting corpse?
It's still a gorgeous flower. I mean, it can't be as bad as those socks that Conor wears. He told me he's had them on since Christmas; of last year.
The flower- absolutely pointless. But on the other hand, it's something original that no one has wanted or managed to do. So it totally sounds like something I would do. I respect the work of this individual. And I think it probably smells so bad as a defense, like why peppers are so hot.
This flower is actually hideous? And agreed- completely pointless. Sure, not all flowers smell good, but at least most of the ones that don't are somewhat appealing. I don't know about others, but I personally would not enjoy wasting my time visiting a flower in which the scent resembles that of a corpse.
