Haiti's new President

After an earthquake and cholera epidemic wreaking havoc across Haiti, one might think that the people would look for a leader with experience in rebuilding lives and a nation. Be it for better or for worse, the new president of that nation draws most of his experience from performing on stage. One of the most famous carnival singers in Haiti, assuming that the results of the vote will stand, has to manage politics of his crippled country.
Frankly, I can't imagine how singer Michel Martelly won the election over a former first lady and college professor, but what he says he has planned seems sound. With talks of educational reforms and focuses on delivery of humanitarian aid, I don't see anything inherently wrong with his ideas. He does not yet have the relationships with powerful individuals across the country that other candidates were fortunate enough to have had under their belts, but these surely will develop during his term. If he can lead, as 68% of the voters think he can, then let's hope that he does it well.
