Taiwan Trannies
As of yesterday, a prominent hospital in Taiwan has been fined for allegedly breaking a gender-equality policy in place in the country. Approximately $1700 was paid to Chou Yi-Jen, a computer analyst for Mackay Memorial Hospital. After arriving to work in women's clothing, he was later fired (being cited for poor performance); however, he was rudely treated after this encounter. Yi-Jen also claims that he was verbally abused by supervisors, and was required to ask permission to use the bathroom. The hospital still holds that they only fired him for performance-based reasons.
Honestly, they probably did treat him rudely after he arrived wearing women's clothing. But has anyone else noticed this trend in using one's orientation/race/sexual activities as a reason for compensation against being fired? I feel that lately I hear of many former-employees suing their former companies over disputes over this type of thing. There's always the good story about the woman that slept with her boss, got fired, and now is claiming he harrassed her. Now, I'm definitely not saying that these types of cases never occur - this is why many countries have these laws in place. However, I feel like many of these stories are more about revenge than genuine mental distress.
